I remember reading somewhere that after anterior/posterior surgery, abdominal muscles are somewhat weakened -- possibly permanently? Is this true? Does it help to build these muscles up before surgery?
Thanks....

It depends on the type of approach needed. I'm guessing what you read about is something often referred to as an incisional hernia or abdominal wall defect. I don't think building up your abs prior to surgery has any effect on whether or not you'll have a problem after surgery. However, I think it's a good idea to build up your abs anyway.
