Hi there. I am new here. I don't know what to do, and i'm almost scared to call my doctor for fear of what I might hear. I had my surgery in Mid-September, and my husband and I just found out that we are expecting our first child. We have been married for three years, and although we planned to have children, we were more than willing to wait the expected one year after surgery. I have been on the pill, but I guess something went wrong, because I just took my fifth pregnancy test in the last two days, and it's still positive. I don't know what to do. I know you're supposed to wait an entire year, but what now? Abortion? Can my body not deal with it? I have no clue what to do, and I was hoping you could help... Please? I'm desperate, and have no clue what to do... PLEASE HELP...

Hi Jenny...

You need to discuss this issue with your OB and your spinal surgeon. I suspect that there may be an issue of how your body uses resources in terms of competing to produce both a healthy baby and a healthy fusion. I hope that everyone turns out well.

Linda

I am not sure how to answer your question, but understand your anxiety. I think you should definitely consult with your surgeon and ob ASAP. I do hear that it has been done before so soon after surgery, but I am sure it would depend on the person, and their medical care... Best wishes to you as you get answers.

I have to agree...contact your specialist and ob. Don't panic...take a deep breath. I and other will be praying for you. But don't hesitate to call! Linda

Hi Jenny. Yes, you should definitely contact your surgeon, as well as ob/gyn for advice. I am sure this has happened in the past to other patients...accidents do happen. Hopefully your doctors will be able to give you appropriate advice. Try to hang in there until you talk to them. Also with pregnancy, you don't get bigger until the end. Once you get your information, hopefully you can weigh the pros and cons of your options. On a positive note, at least you are able to conceive easily...
Take care...
Heather

I hope it all goes well. I agree with everyone else to talk to your doctors about this ASAP.

I was asked by the surgeon doing mine of I was planning on having more kids. I said no, he aid good, it's not recommended.
I'm not sure what that means but I really hope it all works out for you. :)

Best of luck!
