I am a 46 year old male living in northern New Jersey, half hour to Manhattan, and was told my curve is around 55 degrees. I also have a spondylolithesis at L4-5 which I was told is what is causing me to have numbness and a rubbery feeling in both legs. I was told by one physician to get this fused and at the same time fuse various discs and place rods and screws to reduce the curve and prevent it from progressing. Of course I am terrified but feel I am postponing the inevitable.
Does anybody know who I can see who would be idle for this? Of course I have to find someone on my insurance plan, which is the Oxford Freedom plan.

Post what state you live in, that might help get better replies. :)

Kat... I think Robert is in New Jersey.
Robert... I don't know who is on your insurance plan, but Here are some doctors in NY whom you might want to check out:
Oheneba Boachie-Adjei (doesn't accept insurance, but will work with you to keep costs down)
Jean-Pierre Farcy
Barron Lonner
Michael Neuwirth
You can do a search in the forums for those names and find others who have had surgery with them.
Regards,
Linda

At the time he and I posted, he didn't say where he was located. ;)

I went to Dr. Boachie in NY & they just sent my insurance co(Aetna-ppo) a benefit predetermination work-up. So keeping my fingers crossed that they pay 70(out of network) after seeing the surgery costs...
You must pay for initial appointment but still it gets sent to your insurance co. to go against your deductible........Lynne.

Robert:
In addition to those excellent names there is also Thomas Errico who has an office in Summit, NJ but works out of NYU in Manhattan.
He operated on a fellow I worked with and was very happy with him.
