my name is mandy and im a senior in hs. im 18 years old and have been in some severe pain lately. i went to the chiropractor in october to see if i could get rid of some of my pain in my back. i was diagnosed with scoliosis in my med back that curves like a c to the left, my lower spine curves in too far, and my hips are rotated and uneven. my chiro never gave me the correct degrees or anything but she just went on and popped my back and contorted me different ways. at first i was real sore but then the pain began to cease some after i went there for awhile. but now its decemeber and about a week ago the pain has become excrutiating. like last night i didnt go to bed until about 4:30 am because the pain was so bad that i couldnt find a comfortable spot that it didnt hurt. so eventually i just forced myself to sleep. ive been taking small portions of ibueprofen when i cant stand it but its not helping much. ive made an appointment with my family doctor to see if he can refere me to an orthopedic surgeon. now i need advice if i should go along with surgery or if i shuold just try bracing. now ive read a lot of peoples stories on here an other websites and im just wondering what everyone feels i should i do. i feel that if the surgeon tells me i need surgery, then i do kinda want to get it done and over with because i really cant take the pain anymore. i realize that surgery will hurt but in the long run if it makes the pain less, then im willing to do it. i just need some advice from everyone on here from your experiences of what i should do. thanks.

Hi Mandy...
At this point, you don't even need to think about surgery. Scoliosis really only becomes surgical when it's severe. You need to get referred to a scoliosis specialist who can measure your curve, and who can hopefully diagnose why you're having so much pain. You can find a list of specialists here:

Best of luck.
