Hi All! This is Roy, Linda's Husband.
Linda sounded and looked better this morning. The third and final surgery took place this afternoon. And everything went very well. The Dr. was very pleased with the way the procedure went. I was able to see Linda in the post op room, and she was still in pain from the surgery. She did not have any bleeding complications, and will not be in ICU. She will be back in her room in the morning. Now starts the really hard part for Linda, getting out of bed and moving again.
I would like to say "THANKS" for all of your thoughts and prayers. We had a couple of rough days, see http://www.scoliosis.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2771, but with all of your prayers, she pulled through a difficult time.
I am sure that as soon as she is able to, she will post her experience. And I will keep you all updated with her progress.
Roy

Roy & Linda,
I am so jazzed to hear it went so well this time!!! I thought about you all day yesterday. Once she gets her meds organized, and somewhat of a routine established, she will feel more and more confident. Every day is another day toward feeling better. Mark and I are so happy for you both! I'm just a month out and I'm amazed at how much I can do! I hope she gets to go to a rehab facility for a while: I was there for a week and learned so much in that positive, nurturing environment.
Thanks for keeping us posted!
Sharon
Roy,
I am praying for you and Linda. I am so happy the surgery is finally behind her. May God heal her body completely and quickly.
Kindest Regards,
Gail

That's great news Roy! I'm so happy for Linda and the progress she is making! I remember my laps around the hospital floor like it was yesterday...what a great feeling! Tell her to keep up the great work!
Thanks for the update Roy! Keep encouraging Linda each day. I remember everytime I didn't think I was improving fast enough...my husband would always remind me of how far I had come. I also kept a journal. I would read previous weeks and then realize...yes, I have come a long way. Recovery is tough at best. I will continue to remember Linda and you in my prayers. May God heal her body completely and quickly and may God continue to give you the strength you need to care for her.
Kindest Regards,
Gail

WE ARE GOING HOME!!!!! We should be home Friday evening! :) :) :)
Linda has been doing better than the rehab center expected!! She is walking well over 200 feet each time. Going up and down standard stairs! She is doing GREAT!!!! :) :) :)
I am sure that she will post as soon as she can, maybe sometime this weekend. I am sure that the travel will wipe her out. But at least we will be home!!

CONGRATULATIONS to you both!!! :D There's nothing more comforting and exicting than going home after a very long stay in a hospital. I'm glad to hear that Linda continues to improve. Give her my best!

This is Linda...again! I have been home a few weeks now, and progress is being made daily. I still have a long way to go, which is sometimes depressing (I keep comparing myself to others...not a good thing). I am off my pain meds (for the most part), but have many aches that won't go away at night. I am walking further and further each day and am finally getting away from the house for a while every couple of days, which helps the depression. Thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. Please keep them up, as I keep the prayers going for all of you, and keep praying for my wonderful family who is completely supporting me. Linda

Wow, Linda, you are doing great!!! Congratulations on all the progress you are making... I'm blown away that you are already off pain meds... my op was a month before yours, and i still dont want to get too far away from mine, although i only take one or two a day. Yesterday i woke up feeling great, cooked and cleaned up after breakfast, mopped the floor (bad idea) and wrapped the last-minute gifts before heading out to our Christmas gathering.... Boyy was i hurting by the time i got there!!! I also find that i am emotional now more than i used to be.
Anyway, i am very proud of you and your recovery effort.... Keep up the great work, that old depression will get less and less as you go along... and the nights eventually won't seem so long and painful.
Hang in there, hon, it' only gonna get better from here!

Congrats on the continuing progress. I too get emotional sometimes, but take pride in the little everyday victories. Still a long way from normal, but better than I thought I'd be. Don't compare, just do the best with what you can, and that is plenty enough!

Thanks for the kind words. I wish I could get up and clean and wash dishes (not the moping, though, I already know about that!), but am definately doing better each day. As for the pain meds, you keep taking them as long as you need them. I have been used to pain all my life, and developed a habit of ignoring it, so it was easier for me to get off the meds earlier. I'm not super woman or anything, just used to it. Thanks also for the words about being "emotional". It is difficult for me to be "boo-hooey" as my husband calls it. Linda

Linda,
Glad to hear you're doing well. The emotional part of recovery was by far the toughest part for me. I was expecting the physical part, but not the emotional toll it all can take. I would cry at the drop of a hat and I am not a crier. It does get better as you see more and more improvement and soon the little things that frustrate you become second nature and you don't even think about them anymore.
Happy Holidays!
