  • What type of instrumentation you have?

    Hi everyone

I'm just wondering what type of instrumentation you have, especially who had the surgery this year or the last , cause all i've seen till now is CD Horizon and Harrington, no one mentioned Moss Miami even if search for the word nothin appears, if anyone could give me information about it and whether it's new or older that CD i'll appreciate it

    Thanks,
22 years old female, Surgery date: 30 March 2005
Posterior Fusion with MOSS Miami System: T10-L3
    Lumbar curve: pre-op 50 degrees, post-op 12 degrees

      Hi Mona...

Most (if not all) of the posterior implant systems in use today are derivatives of the C-D system. They're all considered "universal" posterior spine systems, and all use hooks, screws and rods. The only real differences are how the rods attach to the hooks and screws. Other "universal" systems include ISOLA, TSRH, and Wiltse. These universal systems differ from Harrington rods in that they are attached to the spine at multiple levels, whereas Harrington rods were attached at the top and bottom only.

      Regards,
      Linda

Hm... I'm not totally certain what kind of instrumentation I have... My preadmission paperwork states that I was to have CD Horizon. But... All the pictures/xrays I've seen of CD Horizon look different than mine- I don't have any hooks in my instrumentation- just a dozen screws and two rods. Mine looks more like the xrays of TSRH....

Excellent correction of 52 degree single left thoracolumbar curve. Slight curve remains in unfused lumbar region but seems stable.

I had my surgery in July of this year and I do believe that I have the TSRH in my back. Hope this helps you out.
