  • Sitting in a car with a brace

My daugther has a Boston brace for about 2 weeks. We find that sitting on a hard chair is easier than on a cushion because the cushion pushes up on the brace. What do you do if you have to sit in a car for a long trip?

If you have lean back chairs, that helps. Otherwise, either take the brace off part of the trip or have her get out frequently during stops. If you don't have bucket chairs that you can lean back, maybe lying down on the back seat, with the seatbelt looser, will also help. We made all-day long trips between NC and PA/OH when my daughter wore her brace, but she did lay her seat back occasionally. Good luck!
