I am supposed to get my brace off in a year or two, supposively when I stop growing. But I am afraid that if I loose the brace, my curve will just worsen without it, even though I'm not growing. Has this happened, is it realistic?

Yes, unfortunately some people's curves will increase after they're fully mature despite having worn their braces faithfully. Studies show that MOST people who wear a brace successfuly avoid surgery. Some people's curves are so aggressive, that only surgery will stop the curves. It's a little technical, but here is some information on curves progressing after maturity:
