  • Can your curve worsen after youve stopped growing?

    I am supposed to get my brace off in a year or two, supposively when I stop growing. But I am afraid that if I loose the brace, my curve will just worsen without it, even though I'm not growing. Has this happened, is it realistic?
    > Diagnosed at age 4
    > Braced at age 5
    > 35 degree curve somewhere, sounds funny but yes, I forget where...

    Hi...

    Yes, unfortunately some people's curves will increase after they're fully mature despite having worn their braces faithfully. Studies show that MOST people who wear a brace successfuly avoid surgery. Some people's curves are so aggressive, that only surgery will stop the curves.
