When my son was 8 his school nurse said she thought he had a mild scoliosis and began monitoring by a specialist. It stayed between 12 and 18degrees until this months checkup was 31. He is being fitted for a providence brace monday. He has been growing lately, he is average height, maybe slightly over and thin. He just turned 12 in april. He has had flat feet diagnosed at around 2 years old. He was diagnosed with amblyopia (eyes) at 7 years old. We have no history of marfans but I see a rheumatologist for spondylarthropothies and am watched for progression of Lupus like symptoms. I am concerned because he has had new pediatricians and no dr really in charge and knowledgable of his overall health. The increased curve really caught us offguard as we really never thought it would increase. With that news I began to search the internet for answers and being a boy is so unusual that I began to look into other causes. The heart complications of marfans alarms me and this needs to be diagnosed as he has signed up to play soccer like he has for 5 years. Any help to a newcomer to this would be great. Hi! We had a doctor who also thought my daugther might have Marfan's, tall, thin, wears glasses, pectus, scoliosis. So we went to a cardiologist and had a heart work-up (echo, x-rays of hands). You should probably see a cardiologist to set your mind at peace. Turns out, my daughter does not have Marfans. Pat
