  • Eyesight changes post-op?

Did anyone experience changes to their eyesight after their surgery? I had an eye exam approx. 3 weeks before my surgery and received new glasses 1 week prior. Here I am 13 weeks later feeling that things are worse than they were before. I'm not sure if it's the glasses or my eyes as I was only able to wear the glasses for 1 week prior to my surgery and chalked any differences up to adjusting to the slightly different prescription.

Does anyone know if major surgery can affect your eyesight? I can't find anything about it anywhere on the web. Just curious...thanks!

    vision changes

    Hi Heidi,
Your post caught my attention immediately, I also experienced visual changes post-op. I have trouble focusing at random times during the day, it is worse first thing in the morning ~ until I have been up for a while. I did find some reference to the issue and found a bit of info on the website, as follows:
http://www.spine.org/NEJM_response.cfm, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on page 3, about the middle of the page there is a paragraph heading: 'Vision Loss Following Spinal Surgery'. I have also pursued the issue with my PCM and surgeon, they referred me to an opthamologist. The eye specialist ordered some tests and I have a follow up on the 2nd of May. I will share the info on the forum when I get more information. Good Luck with your search.
    Regards,
    Gayle
