Hi Everyone!

I think I am having trouble finding a specialist around Michigan. I was wandering who the top 10 doctors are that take insurance. I would be willing to travel even out to Missouri/Minnesota to see the best. Thanks for the information. You are all so great here!

I would try to contact Dr. Bridwell or Dr. Lenke at Washington University's Medical School in St. Louis. Both are on the medical school faculty and have practices related to scoliosis through Barnes Jewish Hospital.

You'd have to contact their office to see what insurances they take, but I think it's pretty broad based.

Good luck.

Lynn

Whitney...

Where are you located? It's usually not necessary to travel outside your area for scoliosis surgery if you're in the US, because there are specialists in most states. I could probably list the "top 10," but I'm betting that you would not be able to get an appointment without a referral from another orthopaedist.

Linda

Linda,

It's me Becky. My posting name is whitney81180. I am in Michigan and am finding it hard to find someone. Some people I have contacted do not do it anymore or do not want new patients.

Thanks,
Becky

Hi Becky...

Have you checked out Glenn Minster:

Or, Stanley Lee in Ann Arbor:

Or, Dale Hoekstra (for whom I can't find a website)

Regards,
Linda

Thanks Linda for the help. Stanley Lee did a fellowship at Washignton University. I will try there. If you find anyone near Chicago would send them my way.

Thanks,
Becky

Ever heard of Dr. Stephen Ondra at Northwestern University in Chicago. Picking a doctor is nerve wrecking. I am confused on who to choose.

Hi Becky...

I have heard of him. And, I know of a few of his patients (some with good outcomes; some with bad). However, I don't think he did a fellowship in spine surgery, so I probably wouldn't choose him as my own surgeon. (That's just my own $.02.)

If you really want to travel to Chicago, check out Howard An, Christopher DeWald, Purnendu Gupta, John Lubicky, and Kim Hammerberg.

Linda
