  • Serena??

I believe that I have developed a large seroma in my lumbar area. I have asked my surgeons care coordinator and she said that it isn't really a concern unless the area gets red or hot. It is uncomfortable and makes sitting more difficult than it already is. Anyone else have experience with these and what was the outcome?

    Thanks.

I hope this resolves itself quickly.....I don’t remember seeing any seroma related posts here but using search could prove me wrong.

    It it on your backside?

    Hang in there...

      Seroma

Thanks for the response Ed. I had searched here as well but didn't see anything either. It is on one side of my lumber area so I feel as though it's making sitting worse than it typically would be as I can feel it pressing against the chair. I plan to check in with the doc again tomorrow to see his thoughts on it.

Today is 13 days post and I feel like I am on a roller coaster, up and down all day long. Mornings are good, evenings not so much. I've been trying to take less meds too but can't seem to do that at night time so I take the normal 2 hydrocodone every 6 hours at night and only 1 every 4 hours during the day. That seems to be bearable for now. I assume I will know when it's time to back down again and will just go off of how I feel.

Walks are good and I've been walking 3-4x a day, 15 minutes at a time. The rest of my days are spent wandering around my house and napping. Getting so bored! If I could sit comfortably I would read all day long but I just can't do it yet. So for now it's sitting, standing or walking.

Thank you for all that you do for this forum and all of us going through this journey.

Scoliosis surgery is not an easy thing to do. It requires a will and a motivation to succeed and through dreadful changes and adjustments. Balancing healing and medications is never easy, it requires us to become lower GI experts. This immediate problem along with the “what did I do to my back” thoughts that arise make for quite an experience. But In the end it always turns out ok.....

Keeping this short tonight since Usain Bolt is running the 100 meters. He is the fastest man ever, and he has scoliosis which is amazing.....

Hang in there, things will improve

Ed, I did not know that but am amazed and inspired by him. I can't wait to tell my family I ran my first, and sadly last, marathon last year with my dad and brother and my dad is constantly doing the Usain Bolt pose, kind of funny.

          Have a good night.
