  • Abdominal muscle spasms

Just finished my second week of physical therapy trying not to push it too hard but the physical therapist is manually working my abdominals because they are so tight after being shifted around. Woke up this morning feeling like I was being stabbed in my right oblique area almost told my husband to take me to the hospital for burst appendix. But laid flat and massaged it out and it's kind of better but the entire side is tender and threatening to cramp. I do not feel sick in any way. I also do not want to take muscle relaxers but I was just wondering if heating pad would help this, or should I ice it and stim it? Also I know this might not be the case for everybody and I did need to lose weight but I can't stop losing weight even though I eat whenever I feel like it and I drink protein shakes and ate a ribeye steak last night and the whole box of cream spinach... My appetite is definitely half of what it was before but I really need to somehow pick up the pace and level off the weight-loss.

    Main concern is abdominal cramping.....help?

I think I would stop going to physical therapy for a while and let everything calm down and start slower when you go back. I think you have to listen to your body and do what works best for you.

Dr. Lenke warned me that most physical therapists don't understand the magnitude of this surgery and can do more harm than good. I only did exercises that his PT recommended until I was a year post-op. At that time, I took a list of do's and don'ts from his PT.

My PT is definitely not overdoing it with me, the cramps have diminished a LOT since I started. He was who originally recommended Dr. Lonner and is spine specialist. If anybody is overdoing it, it's me... I feel like I can do more so have to stop myself.

That's perfect that he is a spine specialist PT.

We almost need a poll on who did PT, and who did not......It’s probably around 50:50.

I did not participate in any scoliosis physical therapy, ONLY walking. Walking was hard enough!

At 8 months, I had shoulder surgery, and then did a shoulder physical therapy program for 6 months that really worked out well....(For shoulder and my spine) When my shoulder therapist started, he admitted that he was a bit afraid of me, that I should tell him if he needs to slow down, and he started things out slowly.......

The timing was perfect considering my situation.
