Hi everyone!

I haven't been checking the forum for awhile. I guess that I became one of those who had moved on following the lengthy recovery period that I endured. Now that I have reached my four year post-op anniversary today, I just wanted to give a shout out of encouragement to those who are contempletating this massive surgery or those who are in those early days of recovery. Just hang in there and take it slowly. Yes, my surgery definitely was life changing and I can no longer do some things that I once enjoyed (I.e. Lawn mowing). Yes, there are some days when the tightness in my back can be overwhelming. Today, though, I am celebrating those blessings of things that I can do in my life (I.e. Picking up my 28 lb grandson). To top off my celebration, I will be heading to the tennis courts tonight to play in one of my league matches.

My prayer for each of you is that you will receive many blessings in your life in spite of the pains that you may endure as result of scoliosis.
Donna

Donna- that is wonderful! It sounds like you are doing fantastic! Kudos and all that sort of celebratory exclamations to you! Four years is a milestone marker. I am so glad you checked in to share the great news with all of us. Isn't life wonderful! I enjoy the good with the bad although that sounds strange. There are always hidden blessings if you hunt for treasure. You obviously have many jewels in your life and things are going super. Enjoy your family-- and good luck on the tennis court!

Congrats on being 4 years out!

I'm curious because we have the exact same levels fused -- why no lawn mowing? (assuming we have help getting the mower out and place on lawn)

The pushing/pulling of the mower just makes my trapezius muscles tighten up so much and it just isn't worth it for me to have deal with that. I can't imagine being on a riding lawn mower; way to jarring for me.

Donna,
I hadn't checked the forum lately and just decided it's more worthy of my time than looking at Facebook. I am so glad I didn't miss your post. If you remember, my surgery was just a few months before yours. We both posted our videos (you playing tennis and me golfing) on "Returning to Athletic Activities Following Spinal Surgery." I am glad you are doing well!
