  • How do you know if infection is in hardware? Fever for a week, on antibiotics

My spine surgery was 2.5 years ago. I've had a fever for a week and on antibiotics. Was switched from Keflex to Levoflaxin on Thursday but STILL have a fever. I'm getting concerned about infection getting in hardware. How do you know if it is?

You're not going to know for certain unless you have more surgery. Have you had an increase in pain? If not, it's a lot less likely that your problem is a wound infection. Have you had blood drawn yet?
