  • Possible causes in my case

Hello fellow curves. I'm 42 yrs old and have 2 Harrington Rods holding my curviture for 23 years now. Last Janurary I had a lot of problems with my back. I make an appt with my ortho surgeon and found out one of my rods os broken in two places. I was diagnosed with a severe Kyphoscoliosis in July 1981(74 to 87degrees).Looking back I think a found a cause in my case. I remember sleeping with my R arm folded and sleeping on it face down from ages 10 to 18 years old. As I think about it, I may have pushed or augmented the curviture into Kyphoscoliosis. I remember sleeping like this for a long time. Another cause may be double jointedness. I was very flexible and limber during high school. So all you parents out there keep an eye on how your children when they sleep. Sleeping position could be a cause. And as always watch your children as they are going through the growth spurts. Poor posture and position as they watch TV must be monitored.
