I lost a lot of weight after the surgery, but now I am six pounds heavier than before the surgery. I wonder - how much does the hardware weight? I have titanium screws and stainless steel rods.

My surgeon said hardly anything-- not to be considered a factor in the weight area. I don't know about how the others will "weigh in" on this topic though. (I also have SS rods)

I've heard it's very little as well.

Irina, my weight rose a couple of kilos in the first six months. I put it down to less activity, but after 6 months I felt really good and life returned to normal and my weight gradually returned to my usual 61 kilos and stayed there.

My surgeon, Dr. Lenke, said about 3 lbs.

The titanium screws weigh very little. The SS rods may weigh ~pound.

Dr. Lenke told me three pounds.

Irina: I tried to look this up on the internet and to my surprise, I found a thread from 2008 started by debbei: Thread: How much does my hardware weigh?

It is very interesting and funny, especially Ed's comments.

PS: Be careful what you post, or you may find yourself in a Google reference!

I don't know, however, I like the idea of subtracting three pounds when I weigh.
