  • Does anybody play tennis?

Does anybody here have a fusion and play tennis? I have been playing tennis for several years but have low back pain from time to time and wonder if I should be doing it. I play at the 3.5 level which is fairly competitive. My fusion and rod is T7 to L3, and I had surgery 20 years ago. I have tried snow skiing since surgery but really am too afraid of falling to enjoy it----I am not a good skier anyway.

    Hi,
I'm not quite sure what your asking...if your surgery was 20 years ago have you played tennis since??? I played before my fusion ...but now after I don't think I'm ready to play again or ever again,,,there is too much twisting and pounding motion for the fusion...I feel like I would be asking for trouble...I always played competively in leagues....I don't think i will again...

Oh, sorry I re read your post...your having low back pain from tennis after 20 years,,,I see no problem with that ..I think people without fusion or scoli surgery have low back pain from time to time aft4er playing tennis......if your still worried get it checked out to be sure

Thanks Connie----My doctor says he will NOT tell me not to play tennis---he thinks it is good for me! Actually I think what created my low back ache was sitting on bleacher seats for too long watching my daughter play soccer. I know that sounds wierd.
Thanks for your reply and best of luck.
