today im 3 years post-op

being stiff
a year to complety recover

a small report from when i was in the hospital. march 10 2010
I really can't believe it. It still feels like yesterday when I was taken to the operating room.
I remember waking up at 5:30 am because I had to be at hospital before 7 am. I was admited at 6:52 am. As I was waiting I was thinking finally after 5 years of having scoliosis I'm finally getting it fixed. So when my name was called I had to get ready for my surgery. When It time to go to the or I said bye to my family. So when I got to the or I saw my surgeon before my surgery. after 8 hours in the OR i came out with 2 rods, 8 screws, five hooks and five wires and a fusion from t4-l2. i was in the sicu for 2 days after surgery and five days in the ortho/spine unit. i had many post-op check up just had my 3 year one on 1/29/13. i have no regrets on having my scoliosis surgery done during my last year of high school

Congratulations, Kara!!!

I guess you and David have something in common. Today, when he heard the date mentioned on TV, he reminded me that it was his 9 year anniversary (since having VBS on 3/10/04).

Time flies!

Love hearing your Post Op report and no regrets! This is the kind of news my son (and me) love to hear since he is newly diagnosed and we are meeting with three different surgeons for consults in the next 30 days.

Your success is so encouraging, Congrats!

Hi Kara - I have not been on the forum for quite a while. So as I read through I saw your 3 year post. I too am at 3 years as of 4/10. I remember reading and commenting on your posts. Your 3 year recap sounded like I had written it, until I got to your high school age, I was 49. It is so good to hear you are doing well. Congratulations on this great milestone! Thanks for posting and sharing how well you have come through. I agree it was a full year before I felt really good, and two years before I felt really, really, good. It does seem like only yesterday! And yet it seems ages ago. Very surreal. Life is good!
