  • Vitamin D level post op

    Hi everyone,

Is it common to have the vitamin D level drop after surgery? I know my level was in the good range prior to surgery in April (in the 40s) and in June (in the 30s). But my recent lab showed a level of 19! I know this is very low. I will be doubling the supplement dosage. Just wondered if anyone else had this issue.

    Pam,
Mine is down, too! Weird. Maybe we're not getting out in the sun enough? Anyway, my GP just told me to start taking 2000 IU on top of my multivitamin.

Not "confused" anymore, but don't know how to change my username.

some Calcium supplements have vitamin D in them...
i used to take separate D...doc in CA told me anyone who
doesn't get enuf sunshine, like those of us in northeast U.S.,
are likely to have lower D...
but now my Calcium stuff has D in it, so i do not need
      to take the D separately...
