I am new to this website/forum, so bear with me. I am a 24 year old female who has known I was suffering from Scoliosis since I was around 8 years old. I was seen by all sorts of specialists, then put into a back brace, which did not work. A few years into my teens, I was flown by the USAF (military brat) from the base where I lived (Yokota, Japan) to Honolulu, Hawaii where ortho wanted to perform surgery. I declined because one doctor scared me by saying I had a chance I would never walk again if something went wrong.
Now, years later, I am beginning to wonder if I made the wrong choice. I recently lost almost 20 lbs. and ever since then...I am in constant pain. I cannot even lay on the floor without my back locking up and I cannot move without someone helping me up like I am 90! I am so worried about this. Every night when I lay in bed with my husband, I can't lay there very long without silently crying because it even hurts to lay in my own bed.
What about pregnancy? Now that I am married...what about pregnancy? Can I carry a child? Do people with scoliosis have children?
I am not looking for answers nor miricles. I guesss I just needed to vent knowing someone...anyone who knows what I feel and go through would read this. After all, it is nice to know that you are not alone.
Sincerely,
Swabby
