Scoliosisguy...
You can find a list of specialists in Wisconsin here:
http://www.srs.org/directory/directory.asp?mode=search
Then, Google the names of the active members to see if you can find a bio.

What does "Emeritus" status mean?

It means that the surgeon is no longer actively working.

So goiing to one of the specialist that are active in the srs listed here would be pretty much a safe bet that they are highly knowledgeable with scoliosis and have had much experience in scoliosis surgery?

Somewhat. To become a fellow of the SRS, one must devote at least 20% of their practice to spinal deformities. If you can find someone who has also done a spinal deformity fellowship, you can be assured that they've had appropriate training as well. If you can find someone who did a spine fellowship in Minnesota, Boston, St. Louis, or San Francisco, I think you're even better off.
