I haven't checked or written in a bit...I've been busy back to teaching and my normal routine.

I wanted to ask if anyone has had knee problems after surgery? I am finding that in the last 2.5 months I haven't been able to bend my knees. I called Dr. Rands office and she suggested contacting my primary care and then seeing a specialist. To clarify...I can bend but I can't bend all the way so my ankles touch my rear.

I did have one knee problem in college but then everything was fine until now (10 yrs later).

    Just wondering.

Also, I'm pretty stiff, but I'm not as worried about that.

    Thanks for you time!

When did the knee problem start ?
I had that happen after my surgery. It didnt happen right away. My knees got very stiff and painful. They froze up when I tried try to squat down and come up from that position Fluid sacs appreared on my elbows.

It happened about 2 months after my surgery. I think I did too much bending at the knees and maybe I did it the wrong way?
I have an appt with my primarcy care and then I'll probably speak to a specialist. I just know something isn't right with them. I hope it's not too serious though.

        Christina,
Dr. Rand told me not to squat down as in the case where your ankles touch your rear as it is very hard on the knee joint. He told me to go down on one knee. Try that and see if you can bend all of the way with that one knee. If not, perhaps you need to do a little stretching of the quadriceps muscles. Have you been to physical therapy yet? We get stiff from lack of use after surgery and it takes awhile for us to get our flexibility back.

I haven't done PT yet. I was going to wait until my 6 month apt. and ask him then. I've been doing some things at the gym Dr. Rand approved though.

Thanks Sally. Hope you're doing well.
