Hi Everyone,
I met with Dr. Ananthakrishnan today and was VERY pleased with her. I was happy to learn after reading one of LindaRacine's posts that a surgeon who did a fellowship at UCSF is a great thing; that's exactly where Dr. A did her fellowship.
What shocked me today was:
1. Learning my height shrunk from 5'10" to 5'7"
2. Curves are worse than what I was told recently (T53*, L52*). Dr. A said the curves are significant at T72* and L59*.
3. I need two surgeries, posterior and 3 months later, anterior.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions on what to ask Dr. A.
First surgery will fuse T6 to about L3-4. Second surgery will fuse L4-5 to S1 to provide a stronger support base. I'm so glad my hubby was with me because I cannot keep all this info in my brain at the moment.
Surgery will occur in about 6 weeks. I need to get a bone density scan tomorrow and get some medical clearances too, then I'll get an exact date.
I must say, thanks to this forum, I'm really happy I read about double surgeries prior to meeting the surgeon today. Had I not known about double surgeries, I would have surely freaked out today.
I keep praying that whatever God's will is, that it be done.
Warmly,
Doreen
