  • Post Op Folks: Traveling on Planes

    Hi Everyone,

For those who have already have surgery 6+ months ago, are you able to place a suitcase into the upper storage area above your seat on an airplane or do you need a flight attendant to do it for you?

    Warmly,
    Doreen

    Doreen...

Depending on where your fusion is, you might be able to physically put your suitcase in an overhead, but it would definitely be against the surgeon's advice. In reality, you wouldn't even be allowed to lift your own suitcase. I'm guessing that 100% of surgeons would NEVER recommend that you attempt to fly by yourself within 3 months of surgery.

    Regards,
    Linda

I'll be sure to ask doc when I meet her on Wed. I travel frequently and never check my suitcase (on the rack) because suitcases frequently get lost. Taking carry-on items assure me my luggage won't get lost. We have a business trip scheduled for Aug 18 - 24; however, since my foot and calf are numb, it may not be a good idea to go. I'll ask the doc about that too.
