  • Initial Appointment to Surgery Date - How Much Time?

    Hi Everyone,

Is there an average amount of time it takes from the initial meeting with a surgeon's office to the actual surgery? Weeks, months, etc.?

    Warmly,

I don't think there is a standard amount of time. For me, it was 3 months. There have been people who had less time until surgery.

Did you decide on a surgeon?

I have an appointment with Dr. Ananthakrishnan who is in the same practice as Dr. Yoon on Wed so we'll see how that goes.

I wonder what to expect in my initial visit on Wed with a surgeon. I have x-rays and MRI images on discs which I will bring with me. What do doctors typically tell you in the initial meeting when a patient is ready for surgery (here is the problem, here is a solution, this is when we can fix it?).

He will probably tell you what he can do for you to help you and explain what to expect.

I always go into such an appointment with a list of questions. Also, if possible, take someone else along to hear what it said. It is difficult to take it all in when you are the patient.

          Good luck!!
