  • Changing from fentanyl back to oxycontin

    Hi guys,
Because of my hospitalization and intestinal issues, the GI doctor changed my oxy and percocet meds to the Fentanyl patch and Tylenol. It's been 3-4 days and thus does not work! I call the internist doc today and he said to change it to my last regimen oxy and percolate. Now, I am reading about oxy and the patches and it really scares me. I don't know how long am I suppose to wait until I take the patch off and start taking oxy and percocet. My doctor did not mention anything about this and he did not care much about how long I have to wait for the change. I have the feeling that he does not know much about these drugs...
For those of you who switched from the patch to pills, how long did you wait and what was the dosage of the fentanyl patch and the oxycontin.
    Thanks
    P.

i looked it up for you...they said up to 74 hours (about 3 days)...
    another site said 48-54 hours...

i was kind of surprised they said it could take that long...

i am not a doctor, and am just telling you what the internet says...
please check with your SURGEON....or your GP...to be safe!

i am not surprised that the fentanyl didnt help you!
i swear by hydrocodone, and oxycontin (30mg) on bad days!
and i haven't had surgery yet, but have bad pain, esp from discs...

i hope you feel better soon!
please talk to nurse or doctor...to be safe!
