  • new chrome cobalt?

anyone hear of a newer chrome cobalt...or is that cobalt chrome?...rod system...smaller than previously used...possible name "Solara" though i may have that part wrong...?
surgeon told me about it today...
    ???
never gave it much thought a i figured i'd have surgery using titanium..this guy thinks this material is better....and will be a newer, smaller model....?

    Hi Jess,

I have either one or both of my new rods made of chrome cobalt. I don't think they are a smaller diameter in my case, however, my surgeon chose it because he said they are stiffer and stronger than either titanium or stainless steel.

Good luck finding out more info.

        Hi Jess-

I have cobalt chrome rods too. My screws are titanium though. Seems like alot of surgeons are moving to cobalt chrome.

When I went for my 8 week checkup Monday they gave me the operative report. I had titanium screws with cobalt chrome rods. I think they're supposed to be stronger.

            thanks for the replies, guys...

i think, since the cobalt chrome stuff is stronger, it can be made smaller/thinner than other metals can be...for use in the scoli surgery...at least, that is what Dr Eisler was saying....

wishing all recent post op-ies uneventful and smooth healing...
