  • Hip pain

Hi everyone, i am about 4 1/2 months out now and for the last 3 days i have had horrible r hip pain. I have not had pain here at all till now. It is actually quite odd because today i have no low back pain. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Just wondering when this all gets better?

    Hi there,

I had hip pain in my left hip for 2 weeks or so immediately following surgery. Nothing helped until I used heat on it. I didn't get a straight answer from my doctor other than the muscles must have gotten disturbed from being rotated, etc, which makes sense. Maybe try heat and hopefully it will go away soon. It is strange though to start at 4 months post-op.

Good luck and hope it gets better soon.

      Janet-

At my 3 months check today I told my surgeon about a little pain in my left hip. Mine is nothing that will stop me from doing anything though. My surgeon said I still have rotation from L3 down to the hips and that it could be causing the pain. He said that over time it should settle down as the muscles/nerves rework themselves.

That’s the problem with successful scoliosis surgery. After, you realize that other body parts are shot!

I’ve been complaining lightly here about my hips.... I just need a break....so does my insurance company. lol

I would recommend a hot bath. Hope this is temporary.
Try not to work so hard. I know your guilty.

That is true Ed. I am realizing more body parts are shot. I also have a bunion in my right foot that is killing me. My Chiro suggested orthotics and now I think that is not a bad idea. Although, I do think I will try Dr Schoal's first. I iced my hip for a couple hours and it feels a little better today thank goodness. The Chiro also told me my body rotates toward the left. Hopefully, that will straighten out and my lower back and hip will finally feel better.

            Janet,

How are you doing with your forward lean problem and low back issues? Are you still working, and how is that going??

Yes, the body parts do take turns, don't they??

The forward lean is improving. I only lean forward when my back is really tired and achy. I still have low back pain. Although, the last couple days it has not bothered me as my hip has now taken over. I can't win. When one thing improves another goes bad. I hope that one day I will be happy I did all of this. I am still working full-time which I am sure does not help the healing process much. I suppose it will take me a little longer considering how much I do. On my days off I also go non-stop with laundry, dishes, exercise and appointments. I wish I could afford to hire a maid.
