View Full Version : I have a surgery date!

Whew! My surgeon's office has worked very hard to obtain a surgery date for me: August 30. Coordinating schedules between three surgeons is not easy! I'll have a main surgeon, an assisting surgeon, and a vascular surgeon. If a second surgery is necessary--if they have to do the anterior and posterior surgeries on different days--the second surgery date is Sept. 3.

Now it's time to get really nervous. I'm finishing Wolpert's book and devouring this forum like crazy!

Thanks for your wonderful posts; you all are truly good friends.

Hi Brenda

Welcome to the forum. There are quite a few of us long fusion A/P people here, so if you have any questions, let er rip.....

Being extremely nervous is totally normal, we have been there. Soon, you will be on the other side.

Wishing you all the best of luck with your surgery, good luck!
Though you may get nervous - I know I did a lot! - just remember it will be better soon, and will be very much worth it if it makes you feel better

Once again good luck!

Welcome Brenda. This is the hardest time. Not long now and all you need concern yourself with, is taking it easy and healing. Wishing you great success with your surgery.

Good for you, Brenda.:) Your date will be here before you know it and you will have it behind you.

I had A/P surgery. The anterior was on Monday and the posterior was on Thursday. I was so scared, especially given my age (probably just using that as an excuse, I would have been scared at any age). I wanted to back out so many times, but VERY GLAD I didn't. I no longer have the pain in my legs, hips, and lower back. I do have the slight discomfort of the hardware, but that is nothing compared to the pain before surgery.

Wishing you all the best!

Brenda, That's great you have your date. It's hard enough to get a date that works for you and 1 doctor, let alone 3. Setting the date was relieving for me because it's something I've wanted to do for a long time, but shortly after I felt very panicked. Now as I'm trying to get things in order I feel calmer, but the panick bug does overtake me once in a while. You'll be in my thoughts as the weeks go by.

Dear friends all,
How could I possibly be so fortunate as to know such caring people as you?

I'd be toast without you!

Many thanks.

Besta luck to all of you aug surgeries. You will do just fine. Surprisingly I really wasn't that nervous - I was just anxious to get it behind me. ANd, I had everyone taking such wonderful care of me it just made a world of difference. All in all - it wasn't near as bad as I was expecting. Maybe I just got lucky, but seeing my x-rays, I just don't understand how they can fit all in that our little bitty backs... Ha!
