  • Self confidence raises as rib hump disappears

I have to say that even though my surgery was June 8th and less then 2 weeks ago, I am SOOO glad I got it done! I don't know why I waited so long...guess I was basically just terrified of the surgery. I am still in alot of pain, but it is so exciting to see the new me evolve!! Everyone who comes to my house makes a comment. I feel so much more confident in clothes!!! Now for the first time this summer, instead of hiding under my baggy XL (frumpy) t-shirts, I will get to go out in confidence and not worry about what people think about my rib hump!!! I can't wait to go out shopping and buy stylish tighter fitting clothes. It's funny too because I always see my husband checking out my new figure too. He is so excited about it too! I feel like I have a new lease on life and I am excited to see what it brings!! The surgery is definately a big boost in self-confidence!!! When I was diagnosed with scoliosis around 12 years old I had a negative self-image, and felt very down on myself. Just have to say I am soooo glad I got this surgery now at 31 years old as opposed to waiting until my mid to later thirties and forties. I feel like I was robbed of my 20's and want to get that time back again!!!again!!!! Does anyone feel the same way?

Thanks so much for listening. I love this forum. You are a great bunch of people!!!!

    Love, JenM

              You look awesome

In my mind I can see you in new clothes with a big smile. When I had my surgery, 34 years ago, I remember my mom taking me shopping after I got out of my brace. She spend $100 (a lot of money in 1976) on all new clothes for me and I felt beautiful for the first time in 16 years!

Congratulations and keep you eyes upon your new, beautiful body!

Great to hear you so thrilled with your new body. You'll have to tell us all about your first shopping spree.

I didn't think a lot about cosmetic changes, pre-op. I was more concerned with keeping the pain at bay. I knew I hated my rib hump but I wasn't overly concerned about my shape. But when I first saw my my new shape I was stunned. It really is a confidence boost.

Post op pic was taken at 11 weeks.

Like this thread! Would love it if more of you post-surgery folks would post photos. It's so inspiring. I'm not doing this for cosmetic reasons--but it sure would be a nice bonus!!!

Congratulations JenM, and other JenniferG your photos are awesome--you're not really 58 are you?

Barb, you have a big surgery coming up--keep us posted so we can provide moral support!
