    well day one of seasonal job opening. I woke up with a migrane and am not going to work. I spend most of my time on line looking up pain meds for back pain from sclious. I tried hydrocodone and couldnt tolerate it. My dr. doesnt seem to want to play anymore.
    does anyone know of a non narcotic pain releiver { perscription}
    I have a message in to my dr for a request for darvon. I KNow it didnt help much last year when I took it but, It might be all I have.

    I am one step away frm deciding I cant work and trying for disability.
    I am so depressed and over welmed. I really want to work but with a pain I can manage without feeling Like i am going to throw up from the pain.

    waitressing is the job and the only job I Have ever had

    Have you ever tried Ultram? It works on the same receptors as a narcotic but is not a narcotic. Also fenoprofen is a very powerful NSAID that has worked very well for me in the past. I hope this helps.

      ultram

      I do have ultam, I never thought it did much. I was taking two 50 mgs at a time and wonder if I could take 3 for a total of 150 mg at a time?

      as two does not do it for me.

        I would ask your doctor, as I don't know. Have you seen a pain specialist? They usually have a few pain relieving techniques that they can try along with the meds or alone. It sounds like you need to get this pain under control before you can do anything else. Sometimes the pain meds work better at lower doses ONLY when the pain is under control. It may take a boost of something stronger and then followed up by lower dose maintenance. Please call your doctor. Suffering is no small issue.

          hi gtucker
          ultram never did anything for me either... it may require a high dose to be effective...
          i think it will take a while to find a med that will work on your pain and not make you too sleepy...i'd suggest you start that search as soon as possible...and any pain doctor worth his salt will not limit your meds to one kind or another...

            My neurologist had me try a med to get rid of the migraine, not to get rid of the pain, and it worked for me, so maybe you can talk to your doctor about trying it. Everyone is different, of course. This is the generic, but it is still pricey (about $10/pill) called sumatriptan, generic for Imitrex. It may not work for you, but might be worth trying since your livelihood is at stake. Best wishes. BTW, I had tried Ultram/tramadol, and it would cut the pain a little so I could work, but definitely not do very much for me.
