Doug (son) on behalf of Glenda:

Glenda was wheeled into the OR this morning around 7:40 to undergo the 2nd part of her 2-part scoliosis correction surgery and returned to her room around 5:30 this afternoon to her very excited family. The surgeon stopped by the room just before she returned to inform us that the surgery had gone as planned and express his optimism that a positive outcome would result. Glenda is now resting comfortably (except for the new back spasms that emerged while I'm typing this) in her room - her sense of humor being encouraged by her pain meds.

Many thanks go out to the outstanding medical team here at Emory that has cared for her so well this entire week. What a special set of gifts they have been given to change the lives of their patients.

We now begin the long recovery process. Again, many thanks to all of you who have been such an encouragement and inspiration to her. My eyes are now a witness ... you all are a mighty strong lot.

            Hi Doug,
It is wonderful to hear that your Mom is doing well!!! She is blessed to have such a compassionate and loving family by her side. She will need you when she gets home. She'll probably want to take care of everyone, just let her know it's her turn to be taken care of.

I had a friend that would show up every couple of weeks and rubbed my feet. I was very grateful.

            Best wishes, thoughts and prayers,
            Shari
