  • 6 weeks post op and feeling good!

Hi all, just a quick happy note about my progress. I am now a bit over 6 weeks post op and I'm feeling really good. I'm working my way off the MS Contin...cut back by half so far and hope to off entirely in the next week. I'm finally able to sit or stand the majority of the day laying down for an hour or so in the afternoon for a nap. My back feels great, still sore at times and odd pains come out of nowhere at times but seem to go away as quickly as they come. I was telling my wife that for the first time in as long as I can remember I can sit in a chair without fidgetting fro
being in pain/ uncomfortable. I started driving this week too, just short trips but enough to get the hang of it again. Getting into my sedan is a bit of a challenge, but it's gettin easier. I'm planning to go into my office once or twice this week for a few hours.

I'm amazed at how much better I feel now than just a week ago....it's amazing how quickly things can change.

I fully expect some setbacks in the coming weeks, but I have to say I'm thrilled with my decision to do this surgery. With that said I hope those that are struggling to get through this continue to hang in there, things will get better!

One last comment as a plug for my surgeon.... I believe I'm the only one here whose surgeon was Dr. Christopher Good at Virginia Spine Institute in Reston, Virginia. If you are on the east coast you might want to put him on you list of doctors to talk to if your having problems. He did a great job, in my opinion, on my surgery and his bedside manner is phenominal, I couldn't be happier with him and the entire practice.

Anyway, that's about all for now...

That’s great news! It gets better as time passes.

I remember at 3.5 months, sitting here and realizing that I was completely pain free... Of course recovery is a see-saw, but being pain free actually took some time to acclimate to since it had been years since I was pain free. I didn’t know what to do. LOL

It seemed like my improvement came in steps. Tiered levels came approx every 6 weeks, like climbing stairs. Looks like you took a step.
