View Full Version : Update on Melissa's Diabetes

03-15-2010, 08:42 PM
Hello, Thanks for all of your warm wishes. I have been today to see an endocrinologist. My Blood sugar numbers have dropped already into the 160s-180s range. This Doctor feels comfortable that if my BS #s are in the 150s-160s range then he will give my surgeon the approval to go ahead with my surgery.
I spoke with my surgeon's nurse and she she agreed that she felt that 150s-160s are safe numbers to operate with. So I go back to see this Dr on March 29 and hopefully my BS numbers will keep on going in the correct direction and stay there.
If he gives me the go ahead on March 29 to have the surgery, then I am looking at the middle of April for the surgery. So I am about 6 weeks behind what my original date was, which , I think, is not too bad.

That's such good news, Melissa. Hopefully your sugar numbers will continue their downward trend and you'll get this surgery out of the way pretty soon. Keep us posted. :) Susie

Fantastic! I think Debbei may be onto something.

Although I know this is just one personal hurdle you're facing, you sound SO much more upbeat with this improvement.

Life can change so quickly, but remember, rarely does it stay at what seems like the absolute darkest for long: Going forward, remind yourself you made it through this, and USE that strength. Some days, it may take all the strength you have to put one foot in front of the other ... but if you just keep walking, you will find a light in the dark.

You can do this! :)

Keep up the good work! Sometimes, things happen for a reason. Better to be healthier going into this, even though it meant a frustrating delay.
Take care,

That's great Melissa. You must be doing all the right things. Keep it up and you will look back on this time as just a hiccup (though an unpleasant one) in your journey. I hope you are feeling like you're getting back on track. All the best!

Stress Melissa has a big bit to do with high blood sugar and low blood sugar levels, just wanted you to know I am so very happy for you. My adult son has had diabetes for 20 years so I know how difficult it can be. You seem to be in a positive place now, well done, proud of you and good luck.

Thanks Lorraine. So Much to learn about this disease and how to eat and when to eat
