    Surgery March 3, 2009 at almost 58, now 63.
    Dr. Askin, Brisbane, Australia
    T4-Pelvis, Posterior only
    Osteotomies and Laminectomies
    Was 68 degrees, now 22 and pain free

      Hello Kara,
      Welcome to the forum. Good luck with your fast approaching surgery. I'm having surgery on Monday. I'll be glad when it's behind me and I can start the recovery phase.

        Hi Kara! You will be fine! You are young and the younger you are the quicker you heal, generally speaking. Me...I'm an old broad! haha!!! But I still haven't grown up! Having surgery 3/31.

          Hey, Kara, and I'm an older one! Welcome and I know you'll do super. I had mine last year in March; you'll be a year post-op before you know it and you'll be back to doing all your normal things. Probably WAY before since you are so young. Good luck to you. Janet

          61 years old--57 for surgery

          Diagnosed in 1965 at age of 13--no brace
          Thoracic Curve: 96 degrees to 35 degrees
          Lumbar Curve: 63 degrees to 5 degrees
          Surgery with Dr. Lenke in St. Louis--March 30, 2009
          T-2 to Pelvis, and hopefully all posterior procedure.

          All was posterior along with 2 cages and 6 osteotomies.

            Pre-surgery lumbar 85 degrees

            Post-surgery thoracic 19 degrees
            Post-surgery lumbar 27 degrees

            Surgery April 1st 2010.

            Posterior spinal fusion from T9 to sacrum.
            Dr. Cronen at University Community Hospital - Tampa, FL.

              Hey - Radiogirl and I are both just young chicks....Ha! I bet once we get rid of all this pain we'll feel 20 years younger...will we look that, also? What a thought for me!!! Ha! Ha! Radiogirl doesn't look old like I do!
