This is the informal calendar of upcoming surgeries. Please add posts to this thread or PM me so we can know the info... I will add to the first post as I receive the information. Since I am busy working, I would really appreciate everyone helping me to see when someone needs to be added-- like when the info is in other threads where I might miss it. The last I looked, the official calendar wasn't functioning right.

This is for any and all scoli surgeries, regardless of age, revision, etc. Be sure to include however much info you want-- name, extent of fusion, P, A, or P/A, surgeon, hospital, location, etc.

6th - sariberri (Sarah) - Australia
14th - Nate (15) (Natesmom's son) - w/ Dr. Masso @ Shriners in Springfield, MA
15th - ShariMSU - posterior fusion, T2-L1 @ Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, MI

14th - ShortEb - @Sydney Children's Hospital, Australia

JUNE

Hi Susie Bee-

I am having surgery on June 9th with Dr. Boachie at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. I have a double curve (thoracic 55 degrees, lumbar 58 degrees) and am being fused from T4-L3 (posterior only).

Thanks for updating the post!

I might miss it. The last I looked, the official calendar wasn't functioning right.

This still just makes me laugh.

It hasn't ever functioned correctly (okay ... I think it sort of functioned for a few months after my surgery).

Against my more logical nature I finally see why this version is better :).

Hi Susie*Bee-

My surgery was changed today to June 8th instead of June 9th. Could you please update on the informal calendar?

Thanks so much!

That was simple, Jen. Thanks for letting me know!

I am tenatively scheduled for June 24 in Columbia, SC. The lady who was scheduling said I may could be moved to some time earlier that month.

I will be fused from T-4 to either L-3 or L-4. (I have to go for a CT scan Monday before he makes a final decision on where to end the fusion.)
My thoracic curve is 65 degrees, lumbar is 50 degrees.

I am 30 years old with 2 small children. I am worried about the surgery and pain control, but I'm most worried about not being able to "do" for my babies in the months after my surgery. I have a wonderful husband to help, but I will miss all the playtime and being able to do all the little things with them for a while.

Hi Jenny-

I have the same concerns as you do. I am 31 years old and I also have 2 small children. I am having the surgery on June 8. How old are your kids? I wonder how long it will take us to be back in action where we can play with them, get them dressed, bathe them, etc. It's great that you got a surgery date. I am starting to get nervous, it's only about 3 months away! Let's keep in touch. I don't see too many people on this forum in their early 30's with young kids. I'm kind of nervous that after my surgery my kids are going to run into me and have the screws pop out or something. My son just turned 5 and my daughter is 2.

Take care,
JenM

The care coordinator just called and rescheduled (definitely) for June 17, a week before we orginally talked about.

JenM - I have the same thoughts as you. My daughter will be 4 by then. My son will be 1 1/2. I asked about leaning over to bathe them and the doctor said I wouldn't feel like it for "a while." My daughter understands that my back is crooked and the doctor is going to make it straight, but it will be hard for her to understand the limitations afterwards. I'd love to keep in touch with you. Where are you from? Do you work or are you a stay-at-home mom.

I'm sending you a private message.

JenM - I tried to send you a Private Message back, but my little boy hit a couple of the buttons as I was trying to send it. Did you get my reply?

Susie Bee - My doctor called me recently to tell me that he can do my surgery from T9 to the sacrum now instead of T2 to the sacrum.

Hi Susie Bee. I changed the date of my surgery from June 8th to June 15th. I decided not to take a week off work in June and hope that I'll be able to go back to work in Sept. after 12 weeks. Thanks, Joy

Be sure to post a new thread a day or two before your surgery so we can all blast you off with good thoughts! Won't be long now...

I scheduled my surgery with Dr. Lenke two years ago and it is finally just weeks away. I will have a T4-S1 fusion on June 9th. In the two years since I first scheduled my surgery I moved to Houston. So now I am facing a plane ride for my trip home from St. Louis after the operation. Yikes! There is so much more to plan when the surgery is away from your home.:o

Thanks Melissa. Last night I thought my leg was feeling ever so slightly better. Then today it was just as painful as ever. I got a call from the hospital today and I have an appointment on Tuesday for my myelogram - so we'll see what they find :). That's the day of your surgery. Big day for you, so while I'm laying there having my myelogram I'll be thinking happy thoughts of you Melissa, and I'll be excited for you knowing that you will be pain free and so much happier long term. Even though I have this pain in my leg, I know it will go away soon, and I'm so much happier now than I was before surgery, I love seeing my body straighter, and feeling taller, and knowing my spine is no longer all screwed up. You'll feel much better too very soon as well :)
