My daughter ofter complains that her feet and sometimes legs feel like they are falling asleep, mostly while she is laying down, has anyone else had this happen?

My son has complained of the same thing, only it happens at random times, not just sitting or laying down. His feet tingle and he gets sharp pains in his legs. Often at school, sometimes when walking, and it makes it difficult to walk. We were referred to a major regional hospital by our local orthopedist and at our first visit there last week I mentioned this complaint. One of the doctors (there's a team) did a quick check of his reflexes but didn't offer any information.

I had the same feeling after I had My surgery. My feet do fall asleep more often now then they did before my surgery.
I think it has something to do with your legs concett to your spine.

How long ago did you have your surgery? Jenn (began thread) and I both have pre-surgery concerns about this. I was figuring the curves were putting pressure on the nerves and hoped that eventually, after the correction, there wouldn't be the same pressure. But I would imagine it would take quite a while to completely heal from it.

this is jenns duater s&d.um.....i havent had the surgery yet but i have a mri enxt mon.[nov.17] to make sure its nothing serios. my surgery isnt untill the beginning of jan. so i beet ill be a reek during christmas[i alraedy am now had just finding out about it a week ago. you did already have surgery didnt you[cant remimber what your letter said].id love to hear your story if u or a loved one did and any tips you have for me[ialso wanna hear anyone elses story that is reading this]

Jenn, I know you're worried about the surgery and I hope you've been able to talk to some others by now so you can calm some of your fears (but hey, I had minor surgery two weeks ago and I was worried about that!). If it helps at all, know that not only are your family and friends thinking about you, people you don't even know (like me) are, as well.

I was writing about my son who hasn't had surgery yet. It's not scheduled just yet, although we've been all but assured by the doctors that it will happen. Boys grow for a longer period of time than girls, and I think the doctors want to wait a while and let his skeleton mature a bit more before doing the surgery. Until then, it's the hated brace! (Well, he hates it, but he says his back feels better when he wears it.) When I saw your mom's post about your legs and feet, it sounded just like my son's complaint. He had an MRI, too, last month, to rule out a "tethered cord". I didn't hear anything else about the MRI results when we went to the specialists in Dallas, so until we go back in a couple of weeks, I'm assuming it was "normal".

My son doesn't like talking about his scoliosis, and for now we aren't talking much about the surgery. The only good part, I suppose, is getting out of school for a day to go to the hospital in Dallas for his re-checks (it's about two and a half hours each way from where we live, so it ends up being an all day trip). Then again, he has to do make-up work from all the classes he misses!
